Almost all the Arduino/AVR device code I've seen to date was clearly written by people who know next to nothing about good programming practices. And yet I must profess an equivalent level of ignorance about electronics, being barely able to wire together the simplest working circuit of any sort if left to my own devices. Is proficiency in the two fields somehow mutually exlusive?

Sigh

Sigh. My +WordPress-based website (vtluu.net) is broken again; upgrade messed up the template, I guess. I keep getting notifications from +DreamHost that the site's been compromised, and repeated efforts to address this have come to no avail. I'm at the end of my rope… If there were an easy way to mirror my +Google+ posts to a +Squarespace blog I'd switch in a heartbeat… Because I don't have time to be copy-pasting my posts here and there, either. Sigh.

Troll wins Newegg encryption patent case, threatening web firms that protect customers
Summary: Newegg’s use of industry-standard online encryption techniques infringed on an obscure modem patent, a Texas jury found. However, the e-commerce outfit has promised to appeal, which has worked out well for it in the past.

Of the two we've redeemed so far, she's gotten two $5 credits to the +Google Play Store, which more than pays for the dozen +KIT KAT bars that she got. Chocolaty +Android goodness!

Reshared post from +Brandon Downey

Just a reminder: If you think that the government should have a warrant to surveil your data in the cloud, you should sign this petition.

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/reform-ecpa-tell-government-get-warrant/nq258dxk

I know it's a PITA to sign up for anything at the petitions.whitehouse site, but if you don't, the people in charge will conclude this issue just doesn't matter — but if you've read my g+ feed, you know that this policy can and does matter.

Reform ECPA: Tell the Government to Get a Warrant | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government
we petition the obama administration to: Reform ECPA: Tell the Government to Get a Warrant. Americans are deeply concerned about NSA surveillance. But the NSA’s not the only problem. An outdated law says the IRS and hundreds of other agencies can read our communications without a warrant.
