The only smoke is from your crack pipe, +Nest Protect. And seriously, why the eff is it harder to cancel a false alarm on a WiFi-connected super "smart" smoke detector than a $20 one? I hate to rag on my own company's products but yeah… do not buy.  #FAIL

Our cat was traumatized and +Janice Nimer driven to despair as she scrambled around the house trying hopelessly to cancel the false alarm as all the connected Protects blared and refused to be silenced.

Spent an exhausting but rewarding day cleaning 5+ years worth of accumulated odds and ends and clutter and, well, junk, out of the shop office. It will be nice to have the room in a usable state again; now just need to add a sofa and a TV… and maybe do something about that floor…

Starting clean-up on the rest of the shop tomorrow. Thanks +Lawrence Lansing for all the help!

It might well be–and probably is–a statistical anomaly but even so I hope it's a sign of generally improving trends.

Google will pay for coding lessons for thousands of female tech workers
We know the stats by now, and they’re grim: women hold just a quarter of IT jobs, and they make up a mere 18 percent of recent computer science
